There’s something special about a drink that instantly takes you back home.
For many Nigerians, that drink is Zobo—a vibrant ruby-red beverage made from dried hibiscus flowers, infused with ginger, spices, and just the right amount of sweetness. It’s served at birthdays, weddings, family gatherings, and quiet afternoons at home. It’s more than a drink; it’s a tradition.
But Zobo isn’t unique to Nigeria.
Across West Africa, it’s known as Bissap in Senegal. In Jamaica and the Caribbean, it’s called Sorrel. In Mexico, it’s enjoyed as Agua de Jamaica. Around the world, people have discovered the refreshing taste of hibiscus, each culture adding its own unique twist.
At BomiNuel, our story began with something simple: missing home.
After moving to Brantford, Ontario, we found ourselves longing for the familiar flavours we grew up with. While we adapted to a new country, one thing we couldn’t replace was that chilled bottle of homemade Zobo sitting in the refrigerator—ready to welcome family and friends.
So we started making our own.
At first, it was just for us.
Then we shared it with friends who immediately asked for another bottle. Those friends introduced their friends, and before long, people throughout Brantford were searching for authentic Nigerian Zobo.
What started as a way to satisfy homesickness slowly became a business built on culture, quality, and community.
Today, BomiNuel Zobo brings together people from different backgrounds. Nigerians enjoy the authentic taste they remember growing up with. Caribbean families recognize the familiar flavours of Sorrel. Canadians discover hibiscus for the very first time and quickly fall in love with its refreshing taste.
Every bottle is brewed with carefully selected hibiscus petals, fresh ginger, natural spices, and the same care we would use if we were making it for our own family.
Because that’s exactly where our story began.
Whether you’re reconnecting with childhood memories or trying hibiscus for the first time, we’re proud to share a drink that has crossed cultures, generations, and continents.
Welcome to BomiNuel.
One bottle. Many stories.
